The New York Giants haven't given their fans many reasons to smile in 2024. As they spiral toward another top draft pick, it's clear that joy has left the building.

More and more empty seats are becoming visible at MetLife Stadium with each passing week, which will only get worse if the team's biggest star isn't on the field. Malik Nabers might be a rookie, but he's the light that guides a seemingly lost franchise into another offseason of uncertainty.

The receiver is already taking a leap to stardom and will only improve as time goes on. Now an injury threatens his status ahead of the Giants' Week 14 matchup with the Saints.

Here is the latest on Nabers' injury.

Malik Nabers injury update

Nabers popped up on the Giants injury report on Thursday, being listed as a limited participant with a groin issue. That made his Friday status even more important. On Friday, it was revealed that Nabers would not practice with what's now being called a hip flexor.

Being a late addition to the report is typically never a good sign and that leaves the rookie's availability for Sunday in serious doubt.

The receiver has dealt with the groin issue all season long, but it was never enough to force him out of action.

Nabers is no stranger to injuries in his first NFL season. He's dealt with a knee problem and concussion protocol, which cost him two games, already in his young career.

When was Malik Nabers' injury?

While Nabers' groin injury has been an issue all season, the hip flexor is a new issue, according to head coach Brian Daboll.

The receiver suffered the latest injury in Thursday's practice.

Malik Nabers stats

Nabers has been a bright spot for the league's lowest scoring offense. Through 10 games, the receiver has hauled in 75 catches on 116 targets for 740 yards and three touchdowns.

New York has started three different quarterbacks in 2024, but Nabers' production hasn't been affected.

Despite missing two games, his 116 targets rank as the third-most in the league, only behind the Jets' Garrett Wilson (118) and Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb (124). His 74 yards per game rank him as the best among rookie receivers.
