Christian Watson injury update: Latest on Packers WR's availability for Week 17
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson had 23 yards in the first half of "Monday Night Football" — all via rushing — against the New Orleans Saints. The Packers went on to win 34-0 and clinch a spot in the playoffs but did so with Watson out for the second half.
One of his carries, a 14-yard gain to bring the Packers deep inside the red zone, was his final play of the first half and saw him hit the ground hard out of bounds.
Watson was later seen on the sidelines receiving getting attention on his knee. Green Bay announced Watson was questionable and the wide receiver did not return to the game.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that tests showed Watson suffered only a bruise. LaFleur said Watson could be in line to play Week 17 in a critical matchup against the Minnesota Vikings (13-2) but it depends on his practice availability.
"We'll see how he practices this week and see where we're at," LaFleur said. "It's more just a bruise. It's when the guy fell on him on the sideline. Still got to be able to function."
“I still don’t really know what happened,” Watson said of the injury. “I have to go back and watch it. I thought I was just laying there and they kind of fell on me. I’m not exactly sure what happened.”
