Chargers at Patriots: Predictions, picks, odds for NFL Week 17 game

The Jim Harbaugh era in Los Angeles has gotten off to a very hot start, as the Chargers are steaming toward a playoff berth. Of course, they haven't clinched just yet, and standing in their way this weekend is the New England Patriots.
Despite several solid pieces moving forward, the Patriots have mostly lived up to their lack of hype this year. While rookie quarterback Drake Maye has looked great, everything else could use some improvement. Still, it appears the Patriots have found their quarterback of the future, someone capable of keeping their team in games they have no business being in, and perhaps this weekend will wind up being exactly one of those games.
Here are our experts' predictions for this Week 17 showdown.

Lorenzo Reyes: Chargers 24, Patriots 21
The Patriots have occasionally put up a good fight against some solid teams — just look at how close their loss was against the Bills. With the Chargers traveling east and facing cold, potentially inclement weather, I can see New England covering.
Tyler Dragon: Chargers 23, Patriots 19
The Chargers have a 94% chance to make the playoffs, per Next Gen Stats. A win on Saturday will make it 100%. Jim Harbaugh’s team seizes the opportunity.
Richard Morin: Chargers 24, Patriots 20
Drake Maye is improving each week and that is what resonates as most important for the Patriots. However, there are serious questions about coaching and play-calling that need to be addressed this offseason -- as well as offensive talent surrounding Maye. Still, it's mostly about draft position at this point.
Jordan Mendoza: Chargers 24, Patriots 10
One playoff spot in the AFC will be clinched on Saturday when the Chargers take care of business in Foxborough.
