The Houston Texans entered the 2024 NFL season facing elevated expectations. C.J. Stroud's rookie year went unexpectedly well and saw the Texans storm to an AFC South title and a playoff win. As such, many believed Houston would be ready to take the leap and challenge for a potential AFC banner this year.

The Texans have once again been solid, posting a record of 9-6 through 16 weeks. However, their offense hasn't been as dynamic as Stroud has endured a slight sophomore slump while marquee addition Stefon Diggs tore his ACL in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Still, Houston's strong pass rush and the addition of Joe Mixon have allowed the team to continue winning. They wrapped up the AFC South title with ease after Week 15 and are guaranteed at least one postseason home game in this year's playoffs.

The Texans have the star power needed to get hot at the right time and become a legitimate contender. The only question is whether that will actually happen or if Stroud will need another year before the Texans can legitimately test the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.

What are the Texans' Super Bowl chances? Here's a look at Houston's odds to win its first Lombardi Trophy and how they compare to those of other playoff contenders.

Texans Super Bowl odds

The Texans currently have +4000 odds to win Super Bowl 59, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. That implied probability gives them a 2.44% chance to win it all for the first time in franchise history.

Houston ranks fourth among the AFC contenders, which likely reflects concerns about their streaky offense and their tough, projected first-round matchup as the No. 4 seed. Stroud led the Texans to the divisional round in his first season as a starter, so he and head coach DeMeco Ryans will hope to get the team at least that far once again.

Super Bowl 59 odds

The Texans are currently tied with the Steelers and Chargers for the ninth-shortest odds to win Super Bowl 59 among listed teams. Here's a look at how Houston's chances stack up against the competition.
