Super Bowl 2025 predictions: Ranking which teams can make it through NFL playoffs bracket

The 2025 NFL playoffs bracket is set and the postseason predictions and projections are already rolling in as the anticipation builds in the weeks leading into Super Bowl 59. The Kansas City Chiefs secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the Detroit Lions were the top seed in the NFC, earning a bye into the divisional round of the playoffs and home field advantage through the AFC and NFC championship games, respectively.
The Chiefs are looking for a rare three-peat led by coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but there are plenty of teams lurking as potential challengers this year. The two No. 1 seeds have faced one another in the Super Bowl just 14 times before, most recently in 2023 when the Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl 57.
There are a lot of intriguing potential matchups on the horizon, beginning with six games over wild-card weekend. That will get the playoff field down to eight teams for the divisional round, followed by a final four for the NFC and AFC championship games. Then comes Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans.
NFL analysts and experts are already weighing in on what will happen this postseason and the teams that will be there at the Caesars Superdome playing for the Lombardi Trophy on Feb. 9. Here's an early look at predictions from around the country, odds on who might win this year's Super Bowl and how to watch next month.
Super Bowl 2025 predictions
Ayrton Ostly, USA Today: Eagles 27, Ravens 24
"The Eagles' defense and a missed kick by Justin Tucker make the difference. Philadelphia's unit is talented enough to handle the Ravens' pass-catching corps and hold up against Henry in the run game. It's a close game but the Eagles make enough plays to get their second title in the last decade."
CBS Sports: Bills 35, Rams 31
"A matchup between (Josh) Allen and (Matthew) Stafford that should delight fans of high-level quarterback play and hyper-elite arm talent. ... not to mention a good battle between two coaches who were hired at the same time and come from very different backgrounds. I love the Rams and Stafford as much as anyone, but it's just Allen's time."
Bleacher Report: Lions 35, Chiefs 27
"(Jared) Goff will outduel (Patrick) Mahomes, this time taking home the trophy that eluded him in his first trip to the grand stage back in 2018."
Arizona Republic: Lions 30, Chiefs
"Can the Chiefs win three straight Super Bowls? We wouldn't count them out. But the Lions feel like a team on a mission and that mission could end with a Super Bowl championship for Detroit, who has never appeared in a Super Bowl."
