Chicago sang about Saturdays in the park. We're singing about Saturdays on the couch.

That's where we'll be planted this week, as the NFL playoffs kick off with two games on the slate. It's been a long 18 weeks to get to this point. We've seen contenders and pretenders, plenty of injuries, highlight reel plays, bad beats, amazing comebacks, magical moments and so much more.

We bid farewell to 18 teams at the beginning of the week, who are into offseason mode. For the rest, it's about surviving another month and hoping their team's colors fall in the confetti at the Super Bowl. The road to New Orleans begins here, on Saturday, with four of the 14 teams in action.

Here's a look at the NFL's Saturday playoff slate to kick off wild card weekend:

Storylines for today's NFL playoff games

  • Jim Harbaugh's first season back in the NFL was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Chargers. Instead, he has his team in the playoffs. The upstart L.A. team has relied on defense and a makeshift skill position group, but they remain dangerous in a wide open AFC.
  • The Texans surprised people last year, but the encore has been a disappointment. Injuries have crushed this group and regression in general has hit them hard. Back in the early Saturday window on wild card weekend, Houston feels like a team operating on borrowed time heading into the postseason.
  • Bitter rivals renew their rivalry in the late game, but the teams couldn't be heading in more opposite directions. The Steelers are in the midst of a four-game losing streak that saw them lose their grip on the AFC North, while the Ravens are winners of four in a row. Baltimore has allowed 12 points over their last two and bested Pittsburgh just a few weeks ago.
  • This is the fifth time these two sides will meet in the playoffs, with Pittsburgh owning a 3-1 record. However, it's the first time they'll play in Baltimore, thanks to the Ravens winning the division.
