Wild card weekend's AFC action wraps up on Sunday with the first game of a triple header. The No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills (13-4) host the No. 7 seed Denver Broncos (10-7) to close out the first part of the AFC's postseason bracket.

Buffalo is in the playoffs for the sixth season in a row behind one of the best offenses in the league. Quarterback Josh Allen is an MVP candidate, leading the No. 2 scoring offense in the league. The Bills' offense is prolific and efficient while also protecting the ball. They lead the league in fewest turnovers with just eight in 18 games. With a win, the Bills would reach the divisional round of the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.

Denver is back in the postseason for the first time since winning Super Bowl 50. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix and the offense have improved down the stretch of the season to compliment the Broncos' No. 3-ranked scoring defense led by star cornerback Patrick Surtain II. Four Broncos players have notched at least seven sacks this season: Nik Bonitto (13.5), Jonathon Cooper (10.5), Zach Allen (8.5) and John Franklin-Myers (7.0).

This game could be close in near-freezing temperatures with a chance of snow. Here's everything to know about the Broncos vs. Bills wild card game:

Broncos vs. Bills predictions

  • Bills 21, Broncos 17

Buffalo rested its starters in Week 18 while Denver played them to ensure a spot in the playoffs, so rest (and rust) could be a factor.

This will be a battle between one of the league's most efficient offenses (Buffalo) and one of the top defenses (Denver). Given the freezing and potentially snowy conditions, the Broncos' No. 3-ranked run defense and Surtain II will play a big role in slowing down the Bills' offense.

Denver's offense is heating up at the right time, Week 18 against the Chiefs' backups aside, and coach Sean Payton is back in the playoffs for the first time since the 2020 season. The Broncos will keep it close but Allen will be too good for Denver to win on the road. Allen makes three key plays that ensure the Bills reach the divisional round again.

Broncos vs. Bills stats, history

The Bills and Broncos have faced off 41 times in NFL history. Buffalo leads the series all-time with a 23-17-1 record.

These teams last played each other in Week 10 of last season. The Broncos kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to win that one in Buffalo. Denver gave up four sacks, but the Broncos defense forced four turnovers, three by Allen, to hold on for a win.

Sunday's game is the second time these longtime AFC fixtures have played each other in the playoffs. The first postseason game between these two franchises was the 1992 AFC championship game. Buffalo won that one 10-7 behind a pick-six by Carlton Bailey.
