Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Predictions, odds for NFC championship game

The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders have played one another 180 times in their history, but only once before have they met in the NFL playoffs and never with as much on the line as there will be Sunday in the 2025 NFC championship game.

These two NFC East rivals play for a third time this season, with Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley converging right after each followed up stellar regular seasons with postseason magic in the divisional round. Daniels accounted for 350 total yards and threw two touchdowns in Washington's upset of the Detroit Lions, while Barkley ran for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the snow in Philadelphia's 28-22 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

The Eagles got a 26-18 win over the Commanders in their Week 11 matchup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where Sunday's game takes place. Washington beat Philadelphia, 36-33, in Week 16 after Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left the game with a concussion when the Commanders trailed, 14-0. Hurts only returned from concussion protocol last Sunday in the Eagles' divisional-round win, when he then came up hobbling after a Rams' sack and finished with a brace on his left knee.

Hurts' mobility given the injury concerns could swing the NFC championship game, but the Eagles remain favorites over the Commanders in their rubber match. Here's how to watch and what to know when the Commanders and Eagles play for a spot in the 2025 Super Bowl.

NFC championship predictions: Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Paste BN: Eagles 30, Commanders 27

"Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is running roughshod this postseason. He compiled a playoff-high 324 rushing yards and is averaging an impressive 6.4 yards a carry. Meanwhile, Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has shown uncanny poise and composure while leading Washington to its first NFC championship game berth in 33 years."

CBS Sports: Eagles 27, Commanders 24

"If the Commanders defense has struggled with one thing this year, it's stopping the run and if you can't stop the run, the last guy in the world you want to be facing is Saquon Barkley."

ESPN: Eagles have 63.7% chance to win

According to ESPN's Matchup Predictor, the Philadelphia Eagles have a 63.7% chance to beat the Washington Commanders in the NFC championship game.

Sporting News: Commanders 31, Eagles 27

"The Eagles seem to pressing a bit, as if their season will be a disappointment without a return to the Super Bowl. (Jalen) Hurts isn't playing great, making the Eagles dependent on (Saquon) Barkley's brilliance and the defense making huge plays. The Commanders are getting much better QB play overall at the moment, and the level of Daniels' cool youthful leadership can't be measured."

The Athletic: Take the Eagles

"Jalen Hurts looked poised and confident in the pocket (despite taking a safety against the Rams), completing 75 percent of his passes with snow circling in Lincoln Financial Field. He finished the game with a brace on his knee, but even that didn’t slow him down. Philly has the name recognition, experience and tenacity to win, but the Commanders have shown that they are capable of beating absolutely anyone, and Daniels is playing incredibly well, showing no signs that the moment is too big for him. … Take the Eagles – or rather Saquon Barkley against the Commanders rush defense."

Arizona Republic: Eagles 27, Commanders 24

"Jayden Daniels has shown poise that makes him look like a veteran, not a rookie, and the Commanders just continue to impress. This team has won seven straight games, including a 36-33 win over the Eagles in Week 16 at home. But, this game is being played in Philadelphia, where the Eagles are 10-1 on the season, including a 26-18 win over Washington in Week 11."
