Jalen Hurts weighs in on Kevin Patullo, Eagles' new offensive coordinator

The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are just 10 days removed from winning the title in New Orleans but already have major changes coming for next season.
Philadelphia lost offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to a head coaching position as the New Orleans Saints hired Moore to take over. With Moore gone, Philadelphia's picked his successor: passing game coordinator and associate head coach Kevin Patullo.
Patullo's been with the team since coach Nick Sirianni arrived in 2021 and the franchise went with in-house continuity for the role next season.
Last week, Super Bowl MVP quarterback Jalen Hurts was asked about Patullo potentially taking over for Moore in 2025.
“It’s hard to compare that role to this role because his job is going to demand something completely different of him," Hurts told the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane earlier in February. "And I have a lot of confidence in him and what he’s shown.
"However, I know, I’ve learned over the years, that’s out of my jurisdiction. Kind of just taking things as they come and trying to go out there and be the best I can be and just learn and evolve.”
This is a similar move to what happened the last time Philadelphia made the Super Bowl. Shane Steichen, the Eagles' offensive coordinator in 2022, became the Indianapolis Colts head coach for the subsequent season. Philadelphia promoted quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson to offensive coordinator in his place.
The Eagles' offense was a top-10 scoring unit in 2023 under Johnson but the franchise parted ways with him and hired Moore in the offseason.
Patullo has never been an offensive coordinator at the NFL level. Including the Eagles, Patullo has worked with six different NFL teams in his career as a position coach, quality control coach or assistant coach.
