NFL 2025 salary cap expected to increase over $20 million

All 32 NFL teams were informed good news ahead of the 2025 new league year.

The 2025 salary cap is projected to fall in a range of $277.5 to $281.5 million team, a person close to the situation confirmed to Paste BN Sports. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the salary cap number isn’t official.

ESPN was the first to report the news.

The range is subject to change based on further negotiations with league and the NFL Players Association. Negotiations over the 2025 player cost and salary cap amount are expected to conclude next week.

The NFL’s salary cap has seen big spikes in recent years.

The projected salary cap is over a $20 million increase from the 2024 salary cap of $255.4 and $50 million above the 2023 salary cap of $224.8. The 2025 salary cap is nearly $100 million more than the cap number in 2019 ($188.2 million).

According to Over the Cap, the New England Patriots have the most cap space entering the 2025 new league year with a projected over $126 million in cap space, followed by the Las Vegas Raiders with an estimate of $99.7 million in camp room.

The Patriots, Raiders, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Chargers all have above $70 million in cap space entering the new league year, via Over the Cap.

The 2025 new league year begins March 12 at 4 p.m. ET.
