When is Rich Eisen running 40-yard dash? 'Run Rich Run' schedule for 2025
Every year since the NFL Network began covering the combine in 2004, Rich Eisen has run the 40-yard dash.
Will the 55-year-old lace up his dress shoes again and make the run in 2025? NFL fans can certainly expect the charitable event to continue after its establishment as an offseason tradition.
Here's what to know about Eisen's 40-yard dash in 2025 and his history of results in the discipline.
When is Rich Eisen running 40-yard dash?
It isn't clear exactly when Rich Eisen will be running the 40-yard dash, but if he follows his recent tradition, it won't occur at the 2025 NFL combine.
Eisen has hosted a "Run Rich Run" event in California since the 2021 iteration of the event. SoFi Stadium in Inglewood and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena have been home to "Run Rich Run" during that time. The event has been taped and then aired during NFL Network's coverage of Day 3 of the NFL draft.
Neither Eisen nor NFL Network has announced their official plans for the event in 2025. But in all likelihood, fans can expect to know the results of Eisen's latest 40-yard dash on the final day of the 2025 NFL draft – Saturday, April 26.
What is 'Run Rich Run'?
"Run Rich Run" is an event that began at the 2004 NFL scouting combine out of what Eisen described at the 2024 NFL draft as a "fit of boredom" while waiting to shoot NFL Total Access with Terrell Davis.
"I looked down to the field, and I have no idea why I thought to myself, 'I can run the 40-yard dash fast right now,'" Eisen explained during NFL Network's 2024 draft coverage. "I said it out loud. Terrell Davis laughed at me. I cursed at him, and then I went down on the field and ran my 40-yard dash in suit and tie and lace-up dress shoes having no idea that the NFL Network crew was recording it."
Eisen's 40-yard dash was shown during the NFL Network's coverage of the combine and started a tradition. He continued to run the 40 over the next decade just for fun, improving his time to a 5.98 in 2014.
In the 11th year of "Run Rich Run," Sara Swanson of the NFL Network front office asked Eisen if he would like to add a charitable component to it. That led Eisen – who had children ages 5, 3 and 1 at the time – to partner with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and what it stands for – to make sick kids better and parents, who get the worst nightmare of a report from their doctors can send their kids to this place in Memphis, Tennessee, and not only have them get better, but they don't see a bill for anything," Eisen explained of the organization. "Not for the health care, not for the travel, not for the food, not for the lodging – zero dollars, zero cents. All they have to do is focus on their child getting better. It is amazing."
Eisen's 40-yard dashes had raised approximately $6 million for St. Jude's ahead of the 2024 event, according to the hospital.
