Not so fast, Isaiah Bond.

The Texas receiver came into the NFL combine armed with all the confidence in the world, claiming he would beat Xavier Worthy's record in the 40-yard dash. The Kansas City Chiefs' receiver set the record in last year's combine with a 4.21.

Bond was looking to check in with a 4.20, potentially even getting into the 4.1 range.

"I'm going to break the record tomorrow, for sure," Bond told reporters on Saturday. "I anticipate running 4.20, or possible, if I'm feeling great, I might run a 4.1."

After two tries, Bond didn't come close. Here's how fast he ran the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine in 2025.

Bond clocked in with an official 4.39 after running a 4.41 the first time around.

It's far cry from the 4.20 that he needed to surpass Worthy. This wasn't some newfound confidence from Bond either. He famously posted an Instagram story after Worthy's record-breaking run last year saying, "4.20 next year."

The Alabama transfer didn't cross paths with Worthy at Texas, but the Chiefs' speedster still weighed in after his record was preserved.

Worthy posted on X, "There’s fast then there’s me."

Bond had plenty of believers at the combine following his confidence in advance of the event. He said, via ESPN, that his best time in training was 4.23.

"I've been running my whole life," Bond said, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "I've been one of the fastest my whole life, so I'm going to go out there, and when practice meets preparation, greatness is achieved. So I'm just going to trust my training and put on a show."

Not only did Bond fall short of his goal, but he wasn't even the fastest Longhorn in the event.

His teammate, Matthew Golden stole the show with an official time of 4.29, which was later compared to Bond and Worthy with some graphics work from NFL Network.

Bond will try to improve on that time at his pro day. It's important to note that Bond still turned in the ninth-fastest time amongst his fellow receivers.
