Former first-round pick Javon Kinlaw will be suiting up for a new team in the 2025 season after agreeing to a three-year contract with the Washington Commanders.

Kinlaw has agreed to sign a three-year, $45 million deal with $30 million guaranteed on the first day of the legal tampering period, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Commanders released starting defensive tackle Jonathan Allen last weekend and now get more reinforcements on the defensive line.

Kinlaw spent the 2024 season with the New York Jets. He started all 17 games at defensive tackle and put up a career-high 4.5 sacks and 25 pressures.

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Kinlaw in the first round, No. 14 overall in the 2020 NFL draft. He spent four seasons with the 49ers before reuniting with former 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh in New York in 2024.

Through five seasons in the NFL, Kinlaw has 9.5 career sacks, seven passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

Washington general manager Adam Peters was in San Francisco when the 49ers drafted Kinlaw in the first round in 2020.
