A new documentary exploring the darker side of quarterback Brett Favre's career and controversies will hit Netflix later this spring.

"The Fall of Favre" is the next installment in the streaming giant's "Untold" sports documentary series. The hour-long feature will air on Netflix starting May 20.

According to Front Office Sports, the sports media site that assisted in creating the documentary, the film will dive into the side of Favre that emerged off of the field: "the womanizing, hard-partying QB whose secrets were fiercely protected in provincial Green Bay."

More specifically, the documentary will probe the ex-quarterback's harassment of New York Jets team host Jenn Sterger in 2008, while he was still in New York, as well as the more recent welfare funds scandal Favre was involved in in Mississippi.

In 2020, Favre was outed as a conspirator in a scheme involving former Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant to illegally divert Mississippi state welfare funds to the University of Southern Mississippi to build a new volleyball stadium. Southern Mississippi is the quarterback's alma mater and the school where his daughter was playing beach volleyball at the time.

Two weeks ago, a Mississippi judge dismissed a lawsuit from Bryant targeting Mississippi Today – the non-profit news outlet that first broke the story.

Favre played 20 seasons in the NFL, retiring immediately after the end of the 2010 season after stints with four different teams.
