Dolphins GM Chris Grier 'not considering' Tyreek Hill trade but gives lofty price

The Miami Dolphins may be down a starting cornerback in 2025. Three-time All-Pro Jalen Ramsey and the franchise are "mutually set to explore trade options" per multiple reports on April 15.
While there's no clear timetable for the trade, it may happen before the 2025 NFL draft so Miami can recoup extra resources to replace him. The draft begins on Thursday, April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
He's the latest Miami veteran to be involved with trade rumors following wide receiver Tyreek Hill who opened the door to a potential trade after their loss to the New York Jets in their regular season finale.
But both Hill and Dolphins key figures have since been steadfast about him staying in Miami. General manager Chris Grier said Hill did not request a trade after the loss to the Jets. Hill himself posted on social media calling trade rumors "another false narrative" and coach Mike McDaniel said he plans to move forward with Hill on the team in 2025.
When asked about a potential Hill trade amid talks for Ramsey, Grier gave a scenario in which he'd consider it.
"That is not anything that we're pursuing. Who knows? If someone wants to come and give me two first-round picks, we'll consider it," Grier said, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The Dolphins sent a first-round pick, a second-round pick, two fourth-round picks and a sixth-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for Hill in 2022.
Deshaun Watson was the last player to be traded for multiple first-round picks. The Cleveland Browns traded three first-round picks as well as a third-round pick and two fourth-round picks to the Houston Texans for him in 2022.
Tyreek Hill contract
Hill has two more years left on his contract with the Miami Dolphins. Here's how much he has left on his contract, per OverTheCap:
2025
- Base salary: $10 million
- Guaranteed salary: $27.65 million
- Cap hit: $27.69 million
If the Dolphins trade Hill before June 1, he'd still count $28.89 million against the salary cap. If they trade him after June 1, they'd save $2.24 million against the cap.
2026
- Base salary: $29.9 million
- Guaranteed salary: None
- Cap hit: $51.89 million
The Dolphins could trade Hill ahead of 2026 and save $20.76 million against the salary cap if they did so before June 1. If they waited until after June 1, they'd save $26.44 million.
Miami will still owe Hill money from 2027 to 2029 in void years but that does not mean he has to play for the team.
Tyreek Hill landing spots
Here are some landing spots for the five-time All-Pro, from Paste BN's Nick Brinkerhoff:
Las Vegas Raiders
"The Raiders are rebuilding on the fly after hiring Pete Carroll and trading for Geno Smith. Neither of them are spring chickens, at least in NFL terms. While there are no clocks in Vegas, they are undoubtedly ticking on the Raiders' window to catapult back into relevancy. Carroll's crew probably won't be a contender in 2025, but they could challenge for a playoff spot if everything breaks right... Trading for Hill would be one way to accomplish that."
Dallas Cowboys
"The Cowboys are quickly becoming a team that gets linked to everyone but lands no one. Dallas has been awfully quiet after opening up cap space with contract restructures for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb... The Cowboys are staring down a weakened offensive line, lack of running back depth and the need for another receiver to play opposite Lamb. That doesn't even factor in a defense that took a step back or the looming Micah Parsons contract. Hill would add blazing speed and another threat to an offense that desperately needs it."
Tennessee Titans
"The Titans look like a team poised to make Cam Ward the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. That opens the door for a potential Hill trade since Tennessee could use additional weapons on offense. The team is essentially devoid of pass-catchers outside Calvin Ridley, meaning Hill could easily step in and become the biggest threat for whoever is under center next season."
Los Angeles Chargers
"Like the Cowboys, the Chargers look like a team poised to sit out the offseason when changes are needed. Jim Harbaugh's team fell short in the playoffs after a surprisingly successful season and now they have essentially skipped adding reinforcements in free agency. Adding only Mike Williams won't be enough to put the Chargers in contention and Ladd McConkey can't do it all himself."
Arizona Cardinals
"Adding DeAndre Hopkins helped boost the offense for a few seasons before they parted ways. Now, Hill can do the same. Jonathan Gannon's team currently features Marvin Harrison Jr., who should take another step forward in his second season. Giving the young wideout a running mate in Hill might unlock an offense that hasn't featured much excitement recently."
