Williams drew mentions as a possible overall No. 1 pick before last season, but an ankle injury kept him off the field for two games and limited his snaps in several others. “Mykel battled through that all year, and it was really tough on him because he had one of the best fall camps that I've ever seen,” coach Kirby Smart said. “The good news is all the scouts saw that too.” He showed grit on his way to 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and 21 tackles, playing his best in two wins over Texas, and finished with 14 career sacks. — Marc Weiszer
