The Cleveland Browns endured a difficult 2024 NFL season. It saw them regress from being a playoff team the previous year to tying for the league's worst record, 3-14, in 2024.

A significant part of the problem was Cleveland's quarterback play. The Browns started four different players at the position in 2024: Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe. They combined for a 71.4 passer rating and threw more interceptions (23) than touchdowns (19).

That problem is unlikely to be fixed in 2025. Cleveland made wholesale changes to its quarterback room around Watson, who may not play this season after tearing his Achilles twice in less than a three-month span. Veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett will compete with 2025 draft picks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in a competition that's expected to be wide open.

Cleveland's defensive outlook for 2025 is a bit better, if only by default. The team managed to keep Myles Garrett despite the All-Pro defensive end's trade request, so he will continue to star for their pass rush. If draft picks Mason Graham and Carson Schwesinger can make an early impact in their NFL careers, that could help the Browns establish an identity on that side of the ball.

Will that be enough to get the Browns more than a few wins? It could, but their difficult-looking schedule could prevent Kevin Stefanski's squad from making a drastic improvement in season-to-season performance.

Here's Cleveland's full list of opponents for the 2025 season as the NFL's schedule release approaches.
