The Denver Broncos made a big-time quarterback change between the 2023 and 2024 NFL seasons. Out went high-priced veteran Russell Wilson and in came first-round rookie Bo Nix.

Few knew what to expect from Nix in his first NFL season. There were expected to be growing pains with the long-time college quarterback, who was the sixth quarterback chosen in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

But Nix proved ready for the limelight. He got off to a slow start over his first few games before rounding into a solid starter. He and Denver's top-ranked defense in EPA helped the Broncos make the playoffs for the first time since their Super Bowl 50 win. However, they were unable to get a win, losing 31-7 to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round.

Sean Payton's squad will look to improve those postseason results in 2025. Denver has added significant upgrades to its roster and notably continued to fortify its already strong defense by signing linebacker Dre Greenlaw and safety Talanoa Hufanga away from the San Francisco 49ers.

Those acquisitions and continued growth from Nix could help Denver blossom into a legitimate Super Bowl contender. That said, the Broncos don't necessarily have an easy path to doing so, especially since they play in a division with two other playoff teams from last season, the Los Angeles Chargers and three-time reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs.
