The Washington Commanders executed one of the most impressive turnarounds in NFL history between the 2023 and 2024 NFL seasons.

In 2023, the team finished with a 4-13 record and ended up with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Last season, the team went 12-5 in the regular season, made the playoffs as a No. 6 seed and made it to the NFC championship game, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Jayden Daniels was the driving force behind Washington's success. The LSU product enjoyed one of the greatest rookie seasons in NFL history, completing 69% of his passes for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He finished seventh in the NFL's MVP voting because of his excellent performance.

The Commanders now enter the 2025 NFL season facing much higher expectations. The team's front office tried to account for those, acquiring veteran talents Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil via trade to improve its offense while adding several veteran role players, namely Javon Kinlaw, to its defense.

The Commanders will also face a tougher schedule in 2025 after their second-place finish and the luck they drew in the NFL's yearly rotating schedule. Here's who Washington is set to face during the 2025 NFL season as Dan Quinn and Co. look to have the Commanders built upon their success.

When is the 2025 NFL schedule release?

The NFL is set to reveal its 2025 schedule in full on Wednesday, May 14.

The NFL has turned the schedule release into something of a marquee offseason event. On schedule release day, the league announces the 18-week slate of matchups for all 32 teams in its entirety.

This year's schedule release will be held one day earlier than last year's, which was on May 15. The NFL announced the 2024 schedule at 8 p.m. ET that night, so fans can expect a similar release time for this year's schedule.
