Bears schedule 2025: Chicago win-loss record predictions

The Chicago Bears were on their way to being a wild-card contender early during the 2024 NFL season. They began the season with a 4-2 record and held a lead in the final seconds of their Week 8 game against the Washington Commanders.

However, the Bears were unable to win that Week 8 contest, as Jayden Daniels completed an improbable Hail Mary that sparked the Commanders on a run to the NFC championship game. Meanwhile, the Bears lost 10 games in a row, fired coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and plummeted to the bottom of the NFC North standings.

Chicago has taken action to reverse its fortune in 2025. It hired Ben Johnson, the former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator who was viewed as one of the top coaching candidates on the market, to turn around their inconsistent offense. The goal is to turn Johnson and Caleb Williams into a long-time duo in the Windy City.

The Bears worked to fortify their offensive line during the offseason. They traded for guards Jonah Jackson and Joe Thuney before signing center Drew Dalman to a big-money contract. Chicago continued to revamp the unit by selecting Boston College offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Bears also used their early-round draft picks adding a couple of weapons for Caleb Williams. Tight end Colston Loveland and receiver Luther Burden III will slot into a Chicago receiving corps that already features DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Cole Kmet.

Will Chicago's offensive upgrades allow Johnson to take them to the next level? Paste BN Sports is predicting the Bears' record as the 2025 NFL schedule release approaches.

Bears record prediction 2025

Record prediction: 8-9

The Bears have a wide range of outcomes for their first season under Johnson's tutelage. If all goes well and Williams thrives in Johnson's offense, Chicago could emerge as a wild-card team in the NFC.

That said, Chicago faces a key obstacle in making that leap. The Bears have the seventh-hardest strength of schedule entering the 2025 season, per Sharp Football Analysis. They will face a particularly tough gauntlet of opponents on the road; that includes six teams that made the playoffs last season: the Commanders, Eagles, Lions, Packers, Ravens and Vikings.

Add in road dates with the Bengals and 49ers – both of whom have been perennial playoff contenders in recent seasons – and it's hard to imagine Chicago scraping together a .500 record on the road.

The Bears should do much better at home. They have some winnable games on the schedule against the Giants and Saints and will likely provide their divisional opponents more of a challenge at Soldier Field.

Still, the most likely outcome for the Bears despite their upgrades is to finish with a record close to .500. Perhaps they can exceed expectations if the offense comes together quickly, but Chicago seems more likely to take a step toward contention this season than to become a true contender.
