Texans schedule 2025: Houston win-loss record predictions

The Houston Texans went 10-7, won the AFC South and made it to the divisional round of the playoffs once again in 2024.
Houston took a slight step backward on offense in 2024 as injuries, and one of the worst offensive lines took a toll. The Texans shipped out five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil this offseason for draft picks. They signed veterans Cam Robinson and Trent Brown, drafted tackle Aireontae Ersery and hired Nick Caley from the Los Angeles Rams to be their new offensive coordinator. All moves could improve protection for franchise quarterback C.J. Stroud.
The team invested in talent around Stroud on offense in the draft. Iowa State wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel should shore up a wide receiver group with some question marks beyond standout Nico Collins. Running back Woody Marks should also help the running back group handle injuries like the Texans faced in 2024.
One of the better defenses in the league last season should be reliable once again in 2025. Houston traded for safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and picked up some depth at linebacker (E.J. Speed) and cornerback (Ronald Darby, Round 3 pick Jaylin Smith). Defensive backs Calen Bullock and Kamari Lassiter were solid starters as rookies last year and could improve with another offseason.

Texans record prediction 2025
Record prediction: 12-5
Houston will remain the top team in the AFC South this season even as Jacksonville and Tennessee likely take a step forward due to a coaching change and a new quarterback, respectively. The Texans went 5-1 in the AFC South in 2024 and that seems repeatable.
They will face the AFC West and NFC West in non-divisional play, though, which is a tough slate of games. Three AFC West teams made the playoffs in 2024 and the NFC West could be tougher in 2025 with improvements in health and talent for those teams.
Outside of that, Houston plays reigning division champions Buffalo, Tampa Bay and Baltimore. None of those will be easy contests, even with the Bills and Buccaneers games being played in Houston.
Still, we think they'll take a step forward in the win column from their 10-7 season last year. Even if the defense takes a step back, the offense should take a step forward under Caley with lots of investment via the draft.
