The Miami Dolphins were hoping to win their first playoff game under Mike McDaniel during the 2024 NFL season. Instead, they failed to make the postseason for the first time in three years under his leadership.

Miami got off to a slow start after starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in the team's Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins did well to bounce back and work their way into playoff contention.

However, the Dolphins ultimately finished the season with an 8-9 record. It marked the first time since 2019 they finished the season with a losing record.

Miami is hoping to get back to its winning ways in 2025. That won't necessarily be easy after enduring several key offseason departures, including left tackle Terron Armstead and star safety Jevon Holland. Trade rumors continue to surround cornerback Jalen Ramsey and, to a lesser extent, top receiver Tyreek Hill, so the Dolphins could end up looking a lot different in 2025 than they did last season.

The good news for the Dolphins? They have an easier-than-average schedule in 2025. Here's a look at who they are set to play during the upcoming season.

Dolphins record prediction 2025

Record prediction: 7-10

The Dolphins are a polarizing team. On the one hand, they have the offensive firepower needed to be competitive in many games. Hill and Jaylen Waddle represent one of the best receiver duos in the NFL while De'Von Achane is an explosive threat out of the backfield.

The Dolphins are also playing the ninth-easiest schedule in 2025, per Sharp Football Analysis. That should give them enough winnable games to keep them in the wild-card hunt.

On the other hand, Miami's secondary looks shaky with Ramsey's future uncertain and Holland now playing for the Giants. That may lead their defense, which ranked ninth in EPA last season, to take a step back.

The Dolphins also remain one Tagovailoa injury away from having to rely on Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers at quarterback. While the same can be said of the downgrade between many NFL starters and their backups, few have the same injury history as Tagovailoa, who has endured concussion problems throughout his career. That includes one that caused him to miss four games last season.

Given that volatility and the fact that the Dolphins have a tough home schedule with games against the Bengals, Bills, Buccaneers, Chargers and Ravens on the docket, Miami may not be able to claw its way back to .500 in 2025.
