The UFL is getting set to crown its champion for the 2025 season. For the first time since the USFL reboot in 2022, the Birmingham Stallions will not be playing for a spring-league title.
Instead, the Michigan Panthers will represent the USFL conference, while the DC Defenders will look to give the XFL conference its first title since the 2024 UFL merger.
The Panthers are fresh off a 44-29 win over the Stallions, a victory that showcased the team's well-rounded offense. All-UFL quarterback Bryce Perkins was efficient and explosive, completing 20 of 25 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown while also notching a key 29-yard scramble on a third-and-14 to keep a touchdown drive alive.
Perkins' dynamism is complemented by the strong, downhill running of Toa Taua, who notched 85 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the Stallions. The Defenders will have to find a way to slow both the 5-8, 204-pound back and the dual-threat quarterback to avoid becoming embroiled in a shootout.
DC turned in a terrific defensive showing against the Battlehawks. Blake Williams' defense flummoxed Max Duggan throughout the game, forcing five sacks, two fumbles and an interception and ultimately causing Anthony Becht to make a quarterback change at the start of the second half. Duggan only re-entered the game after backup Brandon Silvers was injured.
Meanwhile, Jordan Ta'amu – who led the UFL with 17 touchdown passes in the regular season – will guide the league's most explosive passing attack. He will rely on veteran receivers like Cornell Powell, Chris Rowland and Jaydon Mickens to help the Defenders offense go blow-for-blow with the Panthers' league-best scoring unit.
