Steelers sign GM Omar Khan to a new three-year contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers are going all-in for 2025 and the architect behind that team will be around to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
On July 3, the team announced that they signed general manager Omar Khan to a new three-year contract. The deal will keep the executive with the Steelers through the 2028 season.
"I am excited to announce we have signed Omar to a new three-year contract," Steelers President Art Rooney II said in a statement. "Omar and his team have done a great job over the past three years in constructing our roster through the NFL Draft, strategic trades, and free agency. We look forward to continuing that trend that will lead to even more success on the field."
Khan first took over as general manager during the 2022 offseason, but has spent 25 years in the organization. The 48-year-old was hired by the black-and-gold in 2001 to serve as the football administration coordinator – a role Khan held until 2011.
He later assumed the positions of director of football administration and vice president of football & business administration before transitioning to the general manager spot.
Those positions dealt primarily with managing the salary cap while negotiating contracts for players and coaches.
"I would like to thank Art Rooney II for his support," Khan said in a statement. "I believe we are building a championship roster and look forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to be to bring another Super Bowl to the City of Pittsburgh and our great fans."
This offseason, Pittsburgh opted for an all-in approach to the upcoming campaign.
They signed Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal in free agency, which is expected to be the 41-year-old's last season on the gridiron. Khan also swung trades for veterans DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith.
Khan and the Steelers believe they have a Super Bowl contender in the Steel City.
While it remains to be seen what the results will be on the field, the general manager has done his part and has now been rewarded for his efforts.
