The San Francisco 49ers claimed defensive end Takkarist McKinley off waivers one day after the Cincinnati Bengals announced that they waived McKinley less than one week after claiming him off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons because he failed a physical.
The Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders and 49ers reportedly were among teams that put in claims for McKinley before the Bengals acquired him. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Tuesday that San Francisco intends to put in another claim for McKinley.
McKinley was a first-round selection (No. 26 overall) by the Falcons in the 2017 NFL draft.
