The Chicago Bears appear to have their quarterback.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup Mike Glennon is expected to sign with the team Thursday on a three-year contract worth at least $14.5 million a year, a person with knowledge of the deal confirmed to Paste BN Sports.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal — first reported early Thursday by NFL Media — hadn’t been finalized. No contracts can become official until the league year begins at 4 p.m. ET.

In a corresponding move, the Bears are releasing incumbent starting quarterback Jay Cutler, a person with knowledge of the decision told Paste BN Sports. The person spoke on condition because the move had not yet been announced.

Glennon, 27, hasn’t started a game since 2014. In 21 career games (18 starts), he has completed 59.4% of his passes for 4,100 yards, 30 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and an 84.6 rating. And the Bucs never got the compensation they sought through trade talks in recent years. But he has a positive reputation within the league and now appears poised to get his shot.

And the Bears may not be done there.

According to ESPN, Chicago is in pursuit of cornerback A.J. Bouye. And the Chicago Tribune reports the team is poised to offer receiver a multi-year deal worth $13 million annually in hopes of keeping him.
