Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross III offered insight about his mindset Friday as the NFL trade deadline approaches. Via a post on his verified Twitter account, Ross confirmed that he has requested a trade from the Bengals and insisted he's healthy and knows he can be productive – and that it's not football he doesn't like.

"It’s not a secret that I have requested a trade," Ross, 25, wrote in a quote tweet of a since-deleted tweet from a local TV reporter.

"Trade me if this how y’all feel. I’m healthy and eager to play. I know I can be productive. It’s hard to love something when you're not actually participating in it. Believe me, it's not football that I don’t like.

It was reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo earlier this month that Ross approached the team about a trade, wanting a fresh start.

Ross – selected by Cincinnati with the ninth pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft, one pick before the Kansas City Chiefs took quarterback Patrick Mahomes – has two catches for 17 yards in the three games in which he's appeared in his fourth season with the Bengals.
