Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is expected to try to play Monday as the Bengals host the Los Angeles Rams at Paycor Stadium.

Burrow was officially listed as questionable to play in the Monday Night Football matchup after reinjuring his right calf during the Bengals' Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

If Burrow does not play the whole game, backup quarterback Jake Browning is expected to step in.

Browning signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2019. The Vikings signed him to their practice squad later that year and again in 2020.

The Vikings cut him in 2021, and he joined the Bengals' practice squad. The Bengals signed Browning to their active roster this year.

Browning completed 32 of his 45 pass attempts in his three preseason games. The Bengals lost 21-19 to the Washington Commanders and 36-19 to the Green Bay Packers, but tied with the Atlanta Falcons.

As a high schooler, Browning also set California prep records for career pass attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns at Folsom High School. He broke a national record for touchdown passes by a quarterback and set a state record in California with 16,775 passing yards. He threw 91 touchdown passes as a senior.

Browning was also the Gatorade Player of the Year in California his junior and senior years.
