Remove one NFL team from the offseason's quarterback carousel.

The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a restructured contract with starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor, the team announced Wednesday.

Taylor would have earned $27.5 million in 2017 had the Bills exercised his existing option. The team had until Saturday to make a decision on him.

But Wednesday's move gives new coach Sean McDermott clarity behind center. Taylor threw for 3,023 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, his second as the Bills' starter.

"We are excited about the opportunity to keep Tyrod with the Bills," McDermott said in a news release. "I've gotten a chance to know Tyrod and study him over the past several weeks and he is both a great person and competitor. (General manager) Doug (Whaley) and I are confident this was best move for the Bills at this time."

With 580 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, Taylor also was a key contributor to the Bills' top-ranked rushing attack.
