Peyton Manning briefly exits Broncos game but returns

SAN DIEGO – Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning delivered a block near the goal line then jogged straight through the tunnel toward the Broncos' locker room with 1:50 left in the first half of Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.

Manning returned on the Broncos' first drive of the third quarter.

The CBS broadcast reported that Manning, who has been dealing with what the team described as "flu-like symptoms" on Sunday, went to the locker room to receive intravenous fluids. The Broncos said Manning had a thigh injury.

Manning was still in the locker room when officials overturned a touchdown run by Broncos running back C.J. Anderson – ruling the running back down at the half-yard line, and did not return when the Broncos offense got the ball back two more times before half.

He was replaced by backup Brock Osweiler, who got his first non-garbage-time action of his career.

Osweiler's first series included an incomplete pass that was deflected up in the air, and intentional grounding call when he was pressured by Chargers linebacker Dwight Freeney, and a draw play for Anderson.

Osweiler took a knee on the final play before halftime.
