Decision coming in Broncos' QB battle with Trevor Siemian to start vs. Rams
Trevor Siemian will get another chance to make an impression on coach Gary Kubiak in the Denver Broncos' quarterback competition, which appears to be drawing to a close.
Siemian will start Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams, Kubiak announced Monday. Kubiak did not reveal his plans for Mark Sanchez, who started the team's first preseason game, or rookie first-round Paxton Lynch, saying only that all three quarterbacks would play an equal amount.
Kubiak said he expects to make a final decision by next week on the starter for the season opener against the Carolina Panthers.
Both Siemian and Sanchez had uneven outings last Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers. Siemian threw a pick-six to 49ers safety Eric Reid, while Sanchez lost two fumbles and was sacked three times.
"We continue with the competition," Kubiak said. "I think Trevor did a good job (Saturday)."
Kubiak added that Siemian had sustained a shoulder injury while trying to tackle Reid on the interception. He said he hoped Siemian would be able to practice Tuesday.
