Vic Fangio makes Denver Broncos coaching debut with unpassed kidney stone

Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio waited a long time to make his head coaching debut.
So when he had the chance to coach in Thursday night’s Hall of Fame Game preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons, he didn't let a trip to the hospital or a kidney stone stop him.
According to the NBC broadcast, Fangio was not able to pass the kidney stone, but opted to coach the game, anyway. NBC reported, however, that the "worst was over" for Fangio in terms of pain management.
NBC added, though, that if Fangio felt discomfort that he couldn't tolerate, he would move to the coaches' press box to coach the remainder of the game from there.
The Broncos confirmed earlier on Thursday evening that Fangio was taken to a local hospital that afternoon, where he received treatment for the kidney stone.
Fangio, 60, is a long-time coaching veteran who has more than 30 years’ experience coaching in the NFL as a defensive assistant. The Broncos hired Fangio to his first head-coaching job in January to replace the fired Vance Joseph.
Fangio takes over a Denver team that has won just 11 games over the past two seasons and one that has missed out on the postseason over the last three years following the team’s Super Bowl 50 victory in February 2016 against the Carolina Panthers.
