The Cleveland Browns have tapped Johnny Manziel as their starter for the rest of the season.

Coach Mike Pettine officially announced the decision Tuesday morning.

Manziel, a former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick in 2014, has started three games this season, winning one, while veteran Josh McCown has battled assorted injuries.

Manziel passed for a career-best 372 yards (190 more than his previous high) in Sunday's 30-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His 33 completions and 45 attempts were also personal bests at the pro level.

The Browns (2-8) are on bye this week. They will host the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 30.
