Kyler Murray downplays scrubbing Arizona Cardinals photos from his Instagram page
Kyler Murray is entering the fourth year of his rookie contract and is eligible for an extension from the Arizona Cardinals.
Murray caused a media stir speculating his unhappiness with the team and wanting a lucrative extension in February. He scrubbed his Instagram account of all Cardinals-related photos immediately after the Pro Bowl.
His agent, Erik Burkhardt, has been repeatedly vocal on social media questioning the Cardinals' "commitment" to Murray since the saga began.
But Murray downplayed his scrub move for the second time on Thursday, but for the first time in person.
"For a second there, I was trending for I want to say, like, five weeks in a row and every time I get on Twitter I'm like looking, like, 'What are people talking about my name for?' and all this stuff," Murray said while laughing.
"Obviously, you got the whole social media stuff and then coming out with whatever it is about the future and stuff like that. But I'm honestly happy where I'm at. I'm just being where my feet are and keeping football the main thing like it always has."
Murray reposted the photos on March 8. The 24-year-old said his Generation Z age group might have understood him scrubbing his Instagram account better than people outside of that demographic.
"If you're a kid my age, you're used to, like, people take off all the, ... that's just a thing. Honestly, like I said, I took everything off of there besides one picture. It had nothing to do with the Cardinals or anything like that."
When he was asked again about people's shocked reactions, Murray chuckled and replied, "People do it too much, but it's all good."
One week after his social media snafu began, Murray tweeted a letter which read, "All of this nonsense is not what I’m about, never has been, never will be. Anyone who has ever stepped between those lines with me knows how hard I go."

Murray told reporters Thursday he's letting Burkhardt handle his contract situation. But he assured he's as mutually dedicated to the team as its management said about him in February.
“I’m an Arizona Cardinal. I’ve done nothing but give my all to the Cardinals and will continue to do that. I’m not really too worried about my future as a Cardinal," Murray said.
