Chargers RB Melvin Gordon carted off with hip injury


San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon was carted off in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

He was later ruled out with a hip injury.

Gordon was hurt while trying to recover a fumble by Philip Rivers.

A first-round pick in 2015, Gordon was enjoying a breakout season and entered Sunday with 992 rushing yards, 419 receiving yards and 12 total touchdowns. 

Rookie defensive end Joey Bosa also was ruled out for the remainder of the game after suffering a neck injury.
