Philip Rivers' streak of 185 consecutive regular-season starts could be in jeopardy.

The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback has been placed in the concussion protocol, coach Anthony Lynn announced Monday.

Rivers played throughout Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars but told coaches Monday about about his symptoms, Lynn said. He completed 21 of 37 passes for 235 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Rivers has started every game since taking over the starting role for the Chargers in 2006. His streak is second only among active quarterbacks to the New York Giants' Eli Manning, who has made 208 consecutive regular-season starts.

If Rivers is unable to play next Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, backup Kellen Clemens would start for Los Angeles.
