Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry suffered a season-ending knee injury Tuesday and will likely miss the entire 2018 season.
The Chargers confirmed Henry tore his ACL in practice.
ESPN's Adam Schefter quotes a league source saying Henry sustained the injury while he was running untouched during a drill.
The 6-6, 249-pound Henry caught 45 passes for 579 yards and four touchdowns last season. He was expected to take on a larger role in his third season after the Chargers decided not to re-sign perennial All-Pro Antonio Gates, who'll be 38 in June.
The injury to Henry could potentially lead to a reunion with Gates, who has played every game of his 15-year NFL career in a Chargers uniform.
