Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach seemed interested in reuniting coach Andy Reid with a player from their days with the Philadelphia Eagles. It appears that will happen.

Rumors lifted off as soon as word spread that the Buffalo Bills cut running back LeSean McCoy. Selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2009 draft, McCoy was with Reid for four seasons in Philadelphia before Reid moved on to the Chiefs. Now, McCoy will rejoin Reid and Veach in Kansas City.

According to multiple reports, McCoy will sign a one-year deal with the Chiefs worth $4 million in total value. It's not yet clear the corresponding move the Chiefs will make.

McCoy was one of the many players on the Eagles that shared a special bond with Reid.

"When he got fired, I was one of the guys who was most angry about it," McCoy said in 2013. "I love Coach Reid to death."

He holds Veach in high regards too. When the Bills were searching for a new general manager in 2017, McCoy metaphorically pounded the table for him in Buffalo.

Saturday afternoon Veach spoke to the media and played it cool when talking about his potential interest in McCoy.

"I know it has been reported out there, but to keep myself clean with the league — and I know that the media is able to jump on that right away — but I think that the official list here will get out. Once he is officially on the list, we will be able to talk about him," Veach said. "As a step-back, broad-view type of perspective, listen, we play a lot of common opponents and got to see him on tape. He is still a talented player and does a lot of great things in the passing game. If it is official, like it has been reported, I am sure that he is a guy that we will take a peek at. We kind of have a rapport with (him)."

The biggest knock is that McCoy is coming off of one of his worst years from a statistical perspective. It's not clear how much he's got left in the tank, but if he has anything left you can bet that he'll put it all on the line for Reid and Veach. He could even maybe mentor some of the young running backs in the Chiefs' locker room.
