The Kansas City Chiefs were victorious against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in front of a national audience on Sunday Night Football. Fans who stuck around during the commercial breaks may have caught two familiar faces showing off their acting chops.

Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to appearing in commercials, but his co-star stole the show. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made a shocking appearance in a State Farm ad providing some comedy relief.

Speaking to Carrington Harrison on 610 Sports Radio show “The Drive” for his weekly check-in, Mahomes revealed how he was able to get Coach Reid in his latest commercial.

“It was funny because they asked me about the idea. I was like, ‘Man, I’ll ask him, I just don’t know if he’ll do it,'” Mahomes said. “When I asked him, he was like, ‘Do you want me to?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I think it’d be cool and people would be able to get to see your personality on a different level and different scale.’

"I got there, and he crushed it. He’s a natural at that type of stuff. Whenever he just lets his personality show and he kinda relaxes and you don’t see that mean Coach Reid, you see how much personality he has. I think it’s probably my best commercial yet. He kind of stole the show and was the main guy.”

Reid gave his side of the commercial story during his press conference on Monday, saying he was convinced to take the role.

"They obviously reached out to me, knowing that I wasn’t real comfortable doing those kinds of things," he said. "But they made it as comfortable as possible.”

Mahomes remains unsure whether he’d be able to get Reid into another advertisement in the future.

“I always have an interest in bringing all my teammates and coaches into all the stuff I do outside of football,” Mahomes said. “We’ll see if we can try and get Coach Reid into some different stuff. I don’t know how much more he’ll want to do, but it was definitely cool to have him in one.”

The performance was applauded on Twitter by life-long Chiefs fan and actor Eric Stonestreet. He even took some credit for Reid’s performance.

Perhaps Stonestreet will be able to help Mahomes convince Reid to do some acting again next time around.
