Colts agree to extension with backup QB Matt Hasselbeck

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts have their backup quarterback locked up for another year after agreeing to a contract extension with Matt Hasselbeck on Thursday evening.

Hasselbeck has played in seven games over two seasons since joining the team as Andrew Luck's backup. He has completed 37-of-56 passes for 431 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.

Contract terms were not available.

The veteran player has been a Pro Bowl selection three times during his 16-year NFL career. Before joining the Colts, he played with the Green Bay Packers (1998-2000), Seattle Seahawks (2001-10) and Tennessee Titans (2011-12).

Hasselbeck led the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl berth following the 2005 season.
