Referees missed blatant pass interference on the Giants on key fourth down play in Commanders loss

Just about everyone — Washington Commanders fans and NFL aficionados — couldn’t believe that pass interference wasn’t called on the New York Giants’ Darnay Holmes on Sunday night on the play that ultimately decided Big Blue’s Week 15 win.

Heck, I’m a Giants fan and I’ll say it: This should have been pass interference.

Here’s the situation: The Commanders had a fourth-and-goal and were down eight. Curtis Samuel was one on one with Holmes, who basically draped himself all over the receiver. When the ball came Samuel’s way, it was an incomplete pass.

Game over, Giants win a key game 20-12 in the NFC playoff race.

But … man:

Even ex-ref and NBC rules expert Terry McAulay said so.

"This is defensive pass interference," he said on the game's NBC broadcast. "And it really should be called whether it's the end of the game, beginning of the game, doesn't matter. It's always a foul and should have been called."
