Dez Bryant pays his way to join Cowboys against Giants
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Dallas Cowboys ruled Dez Bryant out for Sunday afternoon’s game against the New York Giants, but that didn’t stop the star receiver from joining his teammates for the big NFC East clash.
Cowboys vice president of communications Rich Dalrymple confirmed that Bryant flew commercial – on his own dime – to be here.
Bryant has missed the past four games with a broken bone in his foot, suffered in a Week 1 27-26 victory against the Giants. Dallas has gone 1-3 in its four games without Bryant. Quarterback Tony Romo went down with a broken clavicle in Week 2.
Even though Bryant was ruled out, he did get some light work during warm ups, catching passes and doing footwork at walk-through speed.
Team owner Jerry Jones said back in Week 1 that Bryant would miss between four and six weeks with the injury. Because Dallas had its bye in Week 6, this marks the sixth week the team is without Bryant.
The Cowboys play the Seahawks at home next week.
