Ezekiel Elliott in car accident, held out of Cowboys' OTAs

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was sidelined for the second consecutive day Wednesday after he was involved in a car accident earlier in the week, the team confirmed.

Elliott bumped his head while a passenger in a car that was involved in a collision, the team said. Elliott escaped the accident on Sunday with no significant injuries.

"When he came in on Monday, he had some body stiffness and some neck stiffness," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told reporters "We had him checked out. We felt it was the right thing to do keep him out it."

Held out as a precautionary measure, Elliott worked off to the side as his teammates participated fully in organized team activities (OTAs) on Wednesday, according to NFL Network.

Garrett said Elliott would be held out for the week and return to practice next Tuesday.

In his first NFL season, Elliott led the league in rushing with 1,631 yards and finished as runner-up for offensive rookie of the year to teammate Dak Prescott.
