Marquee game: You know it drove Cowboys owner Jerry Jones crazy to watch the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl last season (and with a backup quarterback, no less). Dallas will get its first chance to be measured against the defending champs in Week 10 — when Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz should be back at full strength. That’s the first part of a tough two-game road trip for the Cowboys, who will travel to Atlanta the following Sunday.

Stumbling block: If things are going well for the Cowboys over the first two months of the season, the Week 13 Thursday night game against the Saints at the Superdome could have major playoff implications. New Orleans looks to be a serious contender, with a powerful offense and a talented young corps of defensive players that could really challenge Dak Prescott and Co.

Noteworthy: Former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant remains a free agent after his release last week, but he’s hinted that he’s interested in signing with an NFC East team in order to have the chance to face the Cowboys. The Giants, who released veteran receiver Brandon Marshall on Thursday, are an intriguing potential landing spot. The Giants and Cowboys play the first of their two games in Week 2 at AT&T Stadium, where the Giants are usually tough.
