Byron Maxwell released by Dolphins, per report

Byron Maxwell's run with the Miami Dolphins is over.
The Dolphins released the cornerback Tuesday, the team announced, a year and a half after acquiring him from the Philadelphia Eagles via trade.
Maxwell, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, has not played since being benched in Week 3 of this season.
“ ... in no way, shape, did I think my play (warranted) that,” Maxwell told The Miami Herald of his benching. “It's a coach's decision. Sometimes you have to deal with it. I'm a team player. Suck it up. Obviously, you think you're the best man to do the job. You can't control it. Everyone is trying to support your family trying to do the job.”
Maxwell was the Dolphins' top cornerback last year after the team acquired him from the Eagles, who signed him to a six-year, $63 million contract in 2015. But Miami has started Xavien Howard and rookie Cordrea Tankersley at the position in recent weeks.
