Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is the top running back in the 2025 NFL draft class. But which team will draft him?

Jeanty, the runner-up for the 2024 Heisman Trophy award, won't participate in on-field drills at the NFL combine this week after the strong season he already put on tape. The Boise State product finished the year with 374 carries for 2,601 yards (7.0 yards per carry) and 29 touchdowns.

Instead, he'll focus on his interviews and making good impressions on team officials in Indianapolis. That, along with his team fits, will be a big piece of what determines where Jeanty ends up come April's 2025 NFL draft.

Here's what to know about Jeanty's potential landing spots:

NFL draft odds: Which team will draft Ashton Jeanty?

Ashton Jeanty landing spots

Five teams have better than 10-1 odds to draft Jeanty in the 2025 NFL draft. Here's how well he'd fit with each of those five teams:

Dallas Cowboys (+225)

The Cowboys are the favorites to draft Jeanty in April. Dallas is set to lose lead back Rico Dowdle in free agency one year after it lost Tony Pollard to the open market, and it's coming off of a year with just six rushing touchdowns as a team. After extending quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with massive contracts, the Cowboys likely can't afford another big extension on a running back.

Jeanty is the best running back in the draft class and would give the Cowboys five years to work with and build around the young talent. Owner/general manager Jerry Jones is no stranger to drafting players from Boise State either, with DeMarcus Lawrence (2014) and Leighton Vander Esch (2018) as recent Cowboys draftees from the program.

Las Vegas Raiders (+320)

After letting running back Josh Jacobs walk in free agency last offseason, the Raiders could not find a consistent lead back to work in their offense. Alexander Mattison led the team with all of 420 yards in 2024, and three other players logged at least 35 carries. Las Vegas finished last season with 10 rushing touchdowns as a team, including two from wide receivers and one from a quarterback.

Jeanty would give new Raiders head coach Pete Carroll an excellent rushing weapon. He'd pair perfectly with the up-and-coming, pass-catching phenom the team has in second-year tight end Brock Bowers and add a second dimension to an offense that desperately needs help.

Chicago Bears (+450)

The Bears' decision to sign running back D'Andre Swift to a three-year deal last offseason did not pay dividends in 2024. The former Eagles star struggled behind a weaker offensive line in Chicago and finished with 90 fewer yards in 2024 than he had the year before, even with 24 more carries to set a new career high.

Jeanty will not solve all of the Bears' problems in the rushing offense, but he would be a younger upgrade to pair with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams in the backfield. If Chicago can also build up a stronger offensive line, the sky could be the limit for new head coach Ben Johnson's offense.

Denver Broncos (+550)

Like the Raiders, the Broncos were unable to establish a lead back over the course of the season. Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estimé split carries, and each player finished with more than 300 yards on the ground. Williams is a pending free agent this year, and McLaughlin could hit free agency next offseason.

If Denver is looking for a long-term answer to star as the team's lead running back, Jeanty is the obvious answer as the best in the class. He'd join an offense that already showed off its capabilities in the passing game with quarterback Bo Nix and wide receiver Courtland Sutton last year.

Pittsburgh Steelers (+950)

Running back Najee Harris will be an unrestricted free agent in mid-March, and fellow back Jaylen Warren will be a restricted free agent. This offseason, the Steelers will need to figure out their quarterback problem first, but once they do, pairing him with a strong complementary piece in the backfield would enhance Pittsburgh's offense further.
