Last season, the Buffalo Bills reached the AFC championship for the first time since 2020. The franchise set a record for points scored and quarterback Josh Allen won NFL MVP.

Buffalo made it to the conference title game in a year that many viewed as a reset after losing longtime starters Stefon Diggs, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer and Gabe Davis. The offensive line was one of the healthiest in the NFL and Allen's stellar play elevated the unit.

Buffalo's defense battled through injuries even before the season got underway. Top linebacker Matt Milano missed much of the season with a biceps injury and a handful of starters missed weeks with various injuries in the secondary.

Still, the Bills have a chance to take another step forward in 2025. Wide receivers Keon Coleman could improve in his second year and Khalil Shakir may take another step forward in the slot. On defense, signings in the secondary and on the defensive line could push the unit forward.

Buffalo could continue to improve in the NFL draft thanks to three picks in the first two rounds. There are plenty of prospects who could be contributors as rookies for a contender like the Bills.

Here's everything to know about the Bills' draft outlook ahead of the 2025 NFL draft:

Bills 2025 NFL Draft picks

The Bills have 10 picks in the 2025 NFL draft. Here's the complete list:

  • Round 1, Pick 30: Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky

Analysis from Paste BN Sports' Nate Davis: Christian Benford recently landed an extension, but this defense needed another outside corner aside from faded Tre'Davious White. Not only was Hairston (4.28 40 time) the only player to outrun Golden at the combine, he’s a playmaker – pilfering five passes in 2023 before struggling with injuries last season.

  • Round 2, Pick 41 (from Chicago): T.J. Sanders, DT, South Carolina

Analysis from Paste BN Sports' Nate Davis: The perennial AFC East champs jump up for some interior beef. A second-team All-SEC selection in 2024, the 6-4, 297-pounder could quickly take snaps from 33-year-old DaQuan Jones. And with 8½ sacks and 35 hurries the past two years, Sanders and Ed Oliver should be quite a disruptive tandem inside.

  • Round 3, Pick 72 (from Chicago): Landon Jackson, DE, Arkansas

Analysis from Paste BN Sports' Nate Davis: A really big (6-6, 264) and fluid pass rusher who blew up the combine with a 4.68 40-yard dash, 40½-inch vertical leap and 10-foot, 9-inch broad jump. He also managed 16 sacks and 28 TFLs and should quickly earn a rotational role in Buffalo.

  • Round 4, Pick 109 (via Bears): Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky

Analysis from Paste BN Sports' Jacob Camenker: Walker is a 6-7, 331-pound defensive tackle prospect who once got first-round buzz. He wasn't overly productive in his final season at Kentucky, but pairing the massive Wildcat with the smaller and quicker Ed Oliver could give the Bills a quality defensive tackle pairing.

  • Round 5, Pick 173: Jackson Hawes, TE, Georgia Tech
  • Round 6, Pick 177 (from Giants): Dorian Strong, CB, Virginia Tech
  • Round 6, Pick 206: Chase Lundt, OT, UConn
  • Round 7, Pick 240 (from Chicago): Kaden Prather, WR, Maryland

Bills 2025 NFL Draft needs

Edge rusher

The Bills signed Joey Bosa in free agency and extended Greg Rousseau this offseason. But in a competitive AFC with the best quarterbacks in the league, more edge rushers will always be welcome. The Bills may be out of position for some of the top prospects at the position in Round 1 unless they trade up. If they don't, they can grab at least rotational pieces in the later rounds who can develop into contributors with time.

Cornerback

Buffalo extended Christian Benford after the former sixth-round pick had his best season as a starter. Still, the team suffered a slew of injuries on defense last season, testing the depth at key positions including cornerback. Investing in more talent even if injuries are less of a concern would be prudent in a competitive AFC.

Safety

Some of the Bills' best defenses during Sean McDermott's tenure featured standout play from both safety spots. The team has high hopes for second-year safety Cole Bishop but getting faster on the back end just in case could help after a lack of speed was exposed against Kansas City in the AFC championship game.

Bills 2025 NFL mock draft

Here's what the Bills could do during this year's draft:

  • Round 1, Pick 30: S Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina
    • With the top edge rushers off the board, the Bills opt to use their first-round pick on the freak athlete Emmanwori. He has safety speed with linebacker size, making him a movable piece with power for the Bills' defense.
  • Round 2, Pick 56: CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame
    • The Notre Dame product offers prototypical size for outside cornerback and fits well in zone. He's fast enough to help the Bills in coverage against the top wideouts in the AFC.
  • Round 2, Pick 62: Edge Jordan Burch, Oregon
    • The former Duck has the size, length and productivity to line up inside or on the edge. He'd offer another versatile piece for the defensive line to rotate in.
  • Round 4, Pick 109: WR Savion Williams, TCU
  • Round 4, Pick 132: DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Georgia
  • Round 5, Pick 169: DL Tonka Hemingway, South Carolina
  • Round 4, Pick 170: IOL Clay Webb, Jacksonville State
  • Round 4, Pick 173: CB Jabbar Muhammad, Oregon
  • Round 5, Pick 177: Edge Ethan Downs, Oklahoma
  • Round 5, Pick 206: S Kitan Crawford, Nevada
