Sam Bradford and the Eagles must win vs. Cowboys: True or false?
At 0-1 and with division rival Dallas in town, is this a "must win" for Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles? We asked members of the Paste BN Sports NFL staff to offer their opinion:
TOM PELISSERO
Not really, though it’d certainly hurt to lose this one, at home, to a Cowboys team that just lost all-pro receiver Dez Bryant. The table is set. But the Eagles have a ton of new parts on both sides of the ball, and the way they opened in Atlanta suggests they need time to put it together.
ERIC PRISBELL
Even though it’s Week 2, this is absolutely a must-win game for the Philadelphia Eagles. They can ill-afford to fall two games behind the Dallas Cowboys. Worse, it would mean losing a head-to-head battle at home to the Cowboys. And still worse, it would mean losing to a Cowboys team that only figures to improve once wide receiver Dez Bryant returns from his broken foot in six weeks or so. The Eagles are a capable team – as evidenced by one half against the Atlanta Falcons – but without a win today, you can begin to write off Chip Kelly’s team.
LORENZO REYES
This a huge game for the Eagles, but I won’t break out the must-win label just yet. Philly does, however, need to show some progress against the Cowboys. Remember, this is now all on Chip Kelly. He took command of player personnel and made some bold changes. An 0-2 start won’t ruin Kelly in Philadelphia. It certainly may make some fans anxious and the margin of error as slim, but the Eagles will have plenty of chances to compete for a playoff berth in the next few weeks.
