Carson Wentz was hunting geese when he got Eagles' starting QB call
PHILADELPHIA – Carson Wentz lay in the middle of a cornfield in New Jersey when he got the call.
It was Saturday. He was hunting geese. But Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was on the other line, and he told Wentz that the franchise was about to trade Sam Bradford.
Wentz was about to become the starting quarterback of the Eagles.
“I got the call, and I was obviously very surprised, but instantly, I was very excited,” Wentz said Monday in a press conference. “A lot of excitement going on. We quickly cleaned up and got out of there because there were so many emotions going on. I was with my family and stuff. But now, it’s down to business. I can tell you that I’m very confident and excited in this opportunity.”
How was his aim?
As he walked off the podium, Wentz said he got one goose.
“Not a good morning,” he said.
