Eagles' Jason Peters out for season with torn ACL and MCL

The Philadelphia Eagles will have to navigate the rest of the season without their starting left tackle.
Jason Peters suffered torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the year, coach Doug Pederson confirmed Tuesday.
Linebacker Jordan Hicks is also out for the season with a torn Achilles, Pederson said.
Peters was carted off from Monday's 34-24 win over the Washington Redskins in the third quarter when an opponent crashed into his leg.
A nine-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time all-pro pick, Peters was a stabilizing force on an Eagles offense that ranks fifth in both yards per game (381.4) and points per game (28.4). Quarterback Carson Wentz leads the NFL with 17 touchdown passes.
Hicks was the starting middle linebacker and had 28 tackles this year.
"When you look at the injury list, and the guys that we’ve lost … guys who are significant starters and role players, leaders on your football team, captains on your football team, it can make an impact," Pederson said. "(But) it’s definitely the next man up. They rally around the guys that are hurt, number one, support them, but at the same time, the bigger picture is we still have a lot of football left. We still have a game this Sunday and the season’s not over."
Philadelphia hosts the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
